UKIP believe that the wishes of local people should come first; every time, with NO exceptions. That’s why your UKIP local Councillor will concentrate on the delivery of cost effective local services. This will include the preservation of our Green-belt land, putting more foot patrol police officers on our streets together with more funding for youth initiatives and clubs.
6 UKIP Priorities
Local referenda - It's time to bring power back to the people locally. UKIP believe that major decisions should be subject to binding local referenda, if the local people demand it. On the petition of 5% of the local population, major planning and service provision decisions should be put to a local vote.
Prioritising services for local people - We must end benefit and health tourism and give priority to local people for housing, education, health and social services. When it comes to planning decisions, we believe that local people should be consulted and their opinions respected and not overruled.
Spending our money at home - Our membership of the EU costs the British taxpayer £53m every day – and another £23m a day goes out in foreign aid. This is whilst jobs, services and benefits are being cut here in the UK. UKIP believe that we should save that money and then invest it in rebuilding our debt-ridden economy.
Proper controls on immigrationThe UK Independence party believe that our housing, education, health and social services cannot cope with constantly rising numbers of people coming to live and work here from abroad. We are determined to end the crazy open door immigration from the EU and run a properly controlled system to only admit manageable numbers of people who have something to offer our country.
Moving government closer to the people - The UKIP founding principle of local government is to make sure that local councils should be able to set and keep a large proportion of their local business rates. This means that they can provide incentives to encourage enterprise attract jobs and regenerate town centres. We will also cut unelected quangos and mega-ministries in Whitehall. We will give more power over health, education and social care to elected boards at county level.
Fighting crime and anti-social behaviour - Britain's communities suffer from an unacceptable level of crime and anti-social behaviour. We should overhaul the system to make sentences meaningful, rehabilitate offenders, deport foreign criminals, free up the police from excessive form-filling and tackle nuisance neighbours and anti-social behaviour.
